A Story About Wind

Gale bought a hair dryer. After two weeks of internet research and pestering her family and friends about the kind of hair dryer they used, she had settled on a model that appeared to give the best durability and performance for the price. He waited another two weeks to let the idea gestate to make sure she was certain this hair dryer was indeed what she needed in her life and that she hadn’t been swindled after seeing hair dryer usage in two unrelated TV shows and on a billboard while riding the bus. She had stayed in a few hotels when she was younger, but had never used the complimentary hair dryers out of a combination fear that she wouldn’t know how to work the device or might break it or damage her hair or accidentally set the hotel on fire and ruin everyone’s stuff.

When the package arrived in the mail, Gale realized that such fears were unfounded. The manor which she opened her new purchase, it was clear she was old enough to use and care for a hair dryer. Perhaps it’s odd that one could get so far in life and not have handled such a common grooming tool. Gale’s mother had kept her hair short. And in college she had lived by herself. So in reality it wasn’t that odd at all.

It is important to read the instruction manual carefully. Gale read it twice. On the third read she felt, that she had all the warnings and troubleshooting successfully committed to memory. The manual was short on styling tips, but after work for the past few days Gale had been watching online videos in-between refreshing the package tracker website. There was nothing to do now but try it out.
